Clarification by MMD regarding FAKE Age Limitation letter

Over the last couple of day an image of a notification purportedly by the Mercantile Marine Department, India made the rounds on Whatsapp titled ‘Age Limitation in Merchant Ships’, wherein it was mentioned that most of the injuries/accidents/deaths onboard happened to seafarers above the age of 50 yrs and as such there would be a block on seafarers above the age of 50 yrs from sailing with effect from 20.02.2018. E-Migrate system for Indian Seafarers from 01 December 2017

A number of whatsapp forwards have been in circulation regarding the Merchant Shipping Notice (MSN) no. 7 of 2017 issued by D.G. Shipping about the e-migrate system for Indian seafarers currently in use on a trial basis and which will be in full implementation effective from 01 December 2017. Unfortunately some of them have some errors with regards to verifying the emmigration clearance status. They have been compiled and corrected to provide a clearer picture.
